Turkey Chili

A great lower calorie option for those cold nights!

2 T  Olive oil

1 c  Frozen chopped onions

2 tsp Minced garlic

20 oz  Extra lean ground turkey

1-15 oz  Can kidney beans

1-15 oz   Can black beans

2-8oz  Cans no salt added tomato sauce

1-15oz Can no salt added diced tomatoes

1 T  Tamari soy sauce

2 T  Chili powder

1 tsp  Ground cumin

Ground pepper, if desired

Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium high heat.  Sauté onions and garlic for 2 minutes.  Add the ground turkey, cook until no longer pink.  Add the beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tamari, chili powder and cumin.  Simmer for at least 12 minutes.  Add ground pepper if desired.

Serves 10.  Per approximate 1 cup serving:  191 calories, 4 g fat, .5 g saturated fat, 23 mg cholesterol, 514 mg sodium, 19 g carbohydrate, 7 g fiber, 19 g protein.
